  • City Council approves Emanuel’s 2018 budget

The City Council approved Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s 2018 budget Tuesday, which will raise the cost of concert tickets, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft, and emergency phone service, according to the Tribune. Alderman Scott Waguespack, one of the three aldermen who voted against the plan, believes Emanuel isn’t being completely truthful about the city’s financial status. “They’d like us to believe the city’s back on track, but the scenes in our neighborhoods and public school classrooms tell a different story,” Waguespack said.
